Filoselle: A Personal Typeface
Utilizing photographed elements and embroidery floss, Filoselle is an exploration into creative type. Designed to be stitched into the fabric of any page layout, its letterform draws inspiration from the classical typeface Baskerville. Enlarged, the rich textures detail each letter, while at a smaller size the typeface takes on a sleek and sophisticated appearance.

The creation of Filoselle began with photographing hand-cut paper letters which were laid over embroidery floss. Bits and pieces of string were brought forward to create more texture and dimension. Test words were then created to discover the overall appearance and aesthetic of the typeface. Finally, a composition was created to display the entire alphabet and a personal typeface was born.
